Snowboarding InsuranceSnowboarding has been increasing in popularity for some time, in 2004 there were 6.6 million participants with most snowboarders between the age range of 18 and 24. 25% of participants were female. This had risen to 8.2 million in the USA in the 2009-2010 season, an increase of 10% over the previous year and taking account for over thirty percent of all snow sport participants. Half of injuries occur to those with less then a year of experience but the experienced riders who do suffer an injury tend to suffer more severe issues. 15% of injuries occur to the knee and 20% to the foot and ankle, a number of injuries also occur when entering or exiting ski lifts. |
