Ski insurance is a much needed travel extra such as airport parking and car hire. Those that travel without insurance run the risk of huge losses should anything unexpected happen such as a missed flight, or more specific to skiing, a broken bone. Many countries do not offer a free medical cover such as the NHS here in the UK and costs can often amount to hundreds, if not thousands for the most common of injuries or illnesses.
